Sounds like a media quality question to me. I`d have thought Ritek branded would be okay. I`d try a different (Grade A) brand of disc, and if you get the same problem then start looking at other possibilities. With it being the latter part (the outer edge of the disc), I`d say the media`s the probable problem.

All discs are not created equal. Some discs are better made than others and the dye on the recording surface isn`t applied as well as it might. Deficiencies in the dye surface cause errors, and as DVD isn`t as hot as CD at error-correction this causes problems like pixellation, stuttering and the like. The problems potentially get worse the further out from the hub that you get.

How much did you pay for these discs? They aren`t Ritek Landscapes, are they? `Cos they`re the UHT of recordable discs - sh*te. ;)

Hi J

the problem seems to be the dvds then..

trouble is when i buy these from Comp fairs they are printable so not labeled up and if the seller says they are Ritek i cant argue i couldnt tell you if they are Landscapes..

so its the discs.. lets forget prinables for a while and tell me what the best brand is to buy..

the last batch i bought was £10.00 for 25 discs.. cheap but at what price i ask myself..!!

As stated - cheaper media can result in poor playback towards the end of the disk.

If you have an old DVD player that can be a factor - the laser may be weaker than a new one and therefore it cannot read the data as easily. Try playing the disks in a different player.

Can you please give a few more details such as which DVD recordable format you using eg. DVD+R/W or DVD-R/W, which burning programme you are using eg. CloneDVD, Nero etc.

Also, which DVD player are you using to play them, have you tried the disks in another DVD player, do they play ok on your computer etc.

All the above would afect playabilaty and would help answer why your having those problems.

The only way of finding out what the make disks are is by getting the unqiue media code off the DVD and posting it here, I`m sure someone would be able to identify it for you. Download DvdinfoPro and that will get you the media code.

Good luck and hope I can be of further help.

Can I ask why you use DVD Decrypter and then DVD Shrink stright after when DVD Shrink can Decrypt the movie aswell?

Also if I remember right, Nero has had a few known problems in the past with burning DVDs. I would prefare not to use Nero to burn DVDs but use CloneDVD, does a brill job. (CloneDVD is trialware.) The software used to burn the DVD plays a big role in compatiably so as the media used.

The media code, I cannot help with but sure someone else will be able to.

Also, have you tried DVD+R? I`m sugesting this because some DVD players may have sight problems with DVD-R due to the physical differencies of the disk.
