My computer has been hijacked by incredifind.com

Roger James (Elite) posted this on Tuesday, 24th February 2004, 12:07

I`m finding that my computer over the last few days has refused to follow some links, including some on dvdreviewer, but instead gets redirected to a website called incredifind.com (seems to be a search facility of some sort). I use Adaware and i`ve scanned with my Panda Antivirus Titanium, but I can`t stop it happening. Anyone have any advice as to how to get rid of it? Would a different spyware software do it? All help greatfully received. Thanks. Roger.

Try spybot search and destroy.

You may also need the CWS shredder, if it`s that nast Cool Web Search trojan.

agreed - spybot is much better than adaware - picks up a lot more.

I now have Spybot as well as Adaware, but I can`t stop the site/s redirecting. I have a Firewall (Zonealarm) and as I said Panda Antivirus but it`s obviously not enough!! Worrying! If i could only find the file that does it! Thanks for the advice though fellas. Roger.

Try Hijack This V1.97 it has a bunch of registry locks that install when you run the program... they return the start page to blank, and search functions will default to standard ie/msn routes...

I got hit with same thing, but managed to get an uninstaller for it.

Trouble is I can`t remember where?

If you require it then e-mail me as I could e-mail it to you as its only a 40kb prog.

It sounds like the Cool Web Search trojan, that installs itself and then runs whenever you boot up.

The running program then keeps an eye on registry keys, history and your default home page - if you cange them it changes them back.
