Personally I`d go for the full version (not upgrade) - which you could buy from Oveclockers -> www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Microsoft_Windows_20.html

I know there`s the whole OEM debate, but I bought mine from them and was very happy with it. And for £70 you can`t really go wrong.
You can use the same disc to upgrade, or if you`d prefer format the drive and re-install from scratch

To give you an idea of price - Amazon do the upgrade for around £85, and the full version of XP Home for £163

I can do you a copy of XP Home OEM for £60 (and when I say copy I mean a legitimate one, not an actual `copy`).

The "Upgrade", does it require that you have an OS already installed or do you just need the orginal disks, so it checks tme?

I think it would use the original discs as the basis for the installation, then move onto the upgrade discs.
