Page 1 of Home!!!!!!!!!

In internet explorer my home page is set to the BBC web site, now everytime i come out of explorer to either shut down or come off the net when i restart explorer my home address changes to www.ggsearch.com Now i`ve tried everything i known to stop this but to no avail :( it happens every single time, i can be off the web for seconds go back on and it`s changed, please help as it`s doing my head in :/ Thanks

This is a homepage hijacker - in other words a rogue program or script which changes your home page of its own free will. You often find them on porn sites, `warez` sites and so on, although they do crop up elsewhere.

If it`s on your machine without your knowledge, it`s possible that your IE security settings are too low. You need to install the critical updates from Windows Update if you haven`t done so already - then set your security to at least Medium level. (It`s under the Security tab in Internet Options on IE6 - not sure about earlier versions.)

As for removing it, try SpyBot and AdAware - if these don`t work, I would recommend visiting the forums at Lavasoft or Spyware Info.

youre home page has been hijacked. You need to download THE LASTEST copy of HiJack This (V1.97.6)

Download then unzip the file and double click on the "HijackThis" icon.
When finished loading click on the "Scan button".
Next click on the "Save Log" button.
Save the log somewhere you will remember and open the log file with notepad.
Then copy the contents and paste them in a reply to be checked.
Please do not fix anything yet as most of what it shows is either necessary or harmless.
Someone here on the board will check it for you.
