i`m trying to speed up my pc.everytime my pc switches on the quicktime logo appears bottom right of screen.(taskbar).I no longer have quicktime installed on my pc, so why is this still coming up?.i`ve changed the settings so the start menu should not load any programs.(especially one thats not even on my hard disk anymore!).
can someone help me, cos i think i`ve tried everything. My knowledge of pcs is not good.
Thats QT Task, it can be disabled with the quicktime control panel, or prevented from loading by editing the registry.

HI,
After loading windows, go to Start and select Run, type in msconfig then press OK.
Select startup and untick any referance to QT.
Hope this helps 8)

RE: start up menu question
thanks for the replies.Im using windows 95.
I can`t change details via quicktime 4, cos i no longer have it on my hard drive.
Antz, i tried what you say but after typing in msconfig, my pc could not find anything!
any other ideas at all?
I didnt no people still used that OS (Get a more upto date one like XP)
mikeyboy,
Sorry my tip didn`t work, probably because Windows 95 is so old and doesn`t allow you to configure your startup via msconfig.
I`m using Windows Me, works ok on mine.
Looks llike R.J.S is right, you`ll have to do it thru the Registry >:( but if you know very little about computers, don`t be tempted to try, you could foul the whole system up.
Good luck!
Antz.
