nero probs?

mc7t (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 3rd July 2003, 19:12

Hi all....
Ok...when i start to burn a cd (either from wav,mp3 or cd copy) the process now takes up to 10 mins to burn...In the meantime,if i go onto the web or try & perform any other opperation,it`s that slow,it`s not worth it!
My spec is
2.5 ghz processer
512 ddr ram
win xp...
48 speed writer.

I`ve tried uninstalling my writer drivers & letting windows re-install it..(i was recommended to do this)..It used to take tops 3mins to burn a disc..Not any more!

Any help would be (Very) appreciated!

Cheers,
Mark.

Close down all other programs before you start and see if that improves things.

Make sure you have DMA enabled on your IDE channels. (Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager.) If the drives are running in PIO mode, they`ll be slow and will hog the CPU.

If Your doing any kind of decoding it will use most of your computing resources i use nero alot with a decent setup and it nearly grinds to a halt press control del and alt and look at your cpu % and youll find its running at around 98% while decoding
