Should old bands reform?.. or should we just remember them through rose tinted glasses?

I ask this because.....

Whilst listening to the radio I heard what turned out to be the new Rachel Stevens song... stay with me... it is revlevant....

Now those of you of a certain age... 30+ will remember BowWowWow... well Ms Stevens new song has that BWW sound.... Burundy beat or something...

I wonder if they`ve released a new record says I ... blissfully thinking of the Go Wild In The Country cover....

One quick search of the gimp`ternet... and voila... Bow Wow Wow.... They have reformed and touring...

BUT..... BUT... BUT... Annabella Lwin has not aged well... sorry have to say..... Its just ruined my past....

So.... should they / others reform or let the rose tinted glasses carry on doing a job.....

Depends on the artist - I was quite (pleasantly) surprised by Gary Numans rocked up version of "Cars" on Noels House Party some years back. (Only caught the end of it :( ).

I keep meaning to go see some of these 80`s bands tours.

I personally think it depends on the band...

Creedence Clearwater Revival SHOULD reform
Heaven 17 SHOULD NOT reform

Little Village SHOULD reform
Bronski Beat SHOULD NOT reform

So, to sum up...if I like like them, then yes they should reform, if I don`t, then no, they shouldn`t reform.

I think that`s fair.

(Annabella Lwin helped my through my kleenex years, it`s a pity she has deteriorated so much)

True. But Jimmy Somerville is still going strong, though more "cult" now. And some stunning stuff he is doing these days. Brilliant work.
It sure was a "golden period" back then. A search on Kazaa, etc (so a friend tells me) will still find the original songs, many of them remixed for today, and still as brilliant now as then. Even in the remixed form.
So a friend tells me. ;)

You`re too late there as they`ve never really split. Just taken forever to do anything.

They released an album called Bigger Than America back in the mid-90`s and another album is due in the next couple of months. They`ve also toured quite a bit and are pretty good for a group who were renowned as studio-only musicians...

Go that way, really fast. If something gets in your way, turn...

And those who dance will spin and turn,
And those who wait will wait no more,
And those who talk will hear the words,
And those who see will fade and die,
And those who laugh will surely fall,
And those who know will always feel their backs against the thin wall...

Actually, and I`ll say it quietly, Jimmy Somerville is ok. I find him the type of artist that I `don`t want to like`, along with A-ha, ABC Shalamar and a few others... (if that makes any sense), but when you hear and play the music, particularly on a good system, you can`t help but like it!

The stuff he has released in the past few years has been up there with the best. Such a pity that he has settled for doing gigs in Germany and Australia. Classic songs he is now turning out. Only one song in all the world can bring me to tears every time, and that is one of his.

Or indeed as the breakaway bunch of The Human League.
