There are many diverse opinions about today`s music. I`m really interested in finding out people`s opinion on music. What are some of your thoughts.... what`s good, what`s bad, etc..??
If you feel like taking a survey on the topic, then please take a look at http://www.brickcity.net/survey/survey.asp. Nonetheless, I`d appreciate any feedback.
Eee, when I were a lad and I`d play my music, my Mum would shout "Turn that bloody row off. What is this rubbish that kids are into today?"
Now I`m 49 and saying the same thing to my own kids. Plus ca change, c`est le meme chose ...

Reminds me of that peter kay sketch;
"In a few years it`ll be `What do you call that rubbish? Stick a bit o` prodigy on! Remember that Barbara? Smack My Bitch Up!`"
Funny. I`ll probably hate my kids taste in music in an "I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s "it" seems weird and scary to me" kinda way

Modern music is rubbish.
I`ve decided I`m old (29, 30 in September) cos I borrowed some CDs from a mate, there was some new "cool" stuff like the Killers, and I borrowed some old stuff from when I was school/ college age.
the stuff from 15 years ago or so is still great, modern music (eg Killers) is rubbish, unless it`s by artists i liked 15 years ago, then it can be good, can be bad ;)
Interestingly I know 3 ppl with new Greenday album. My girlfriend`s mum, my boss at work (woman mid 30s) and a colleague`s female middle aged neighbour.
When I`ve got kids I`m sure I will be part of the "what`s this rubbish you`re listening to " brigade, as my parents did to me :(

The funny thing is, i really cant imagine what my kids would say when one day when im 50 (26 now for ref ;)) i stick on some proper hardcore Drum and Bass, which I regularly listen to.
WTF is this crap is one of many possible scenarios.

I`ve had this kind of discussion with mates recently...
I suggested that in 20 years time we`d be going to a "do" to see the Prodigy.. but it wouldn`t be the original line up.. only Keith would be left... and they would be appearing on a touring 90s revival show..
My esteemed coleague . suggested that contrary to this.. we would be going to see a Prodigy tribute band instead... perhaps called: `The Firestarters"?
Anyone seen/heard that Mark Steel Lecture about Beethoven where he`s saying music is supposed to be played loud and parents just don`t know what they`re talking about so there? True.
My hearing is ever so slightly f***ed and I squarely place the blame on my Walkman. Worth it though!! :D :D

*Or* there would be two Prodigys with only one of them having an orginal member and one fronted by David Van Day and they`ll be squabbling over the name and who gets to play Blackpool pier....

There`s a lot of crap about today (manufactured bands) but also some excellent punk/post-punk/indie/rock bands around. My mum remembers her dad complaining when she played The Beatles` Magical Mystery Tour but now she quite happily sits in the kitchen with a Green Day CD in the Hi-Fi! :/

Have a listen to The Arcade Fire. Brilliant music, so fresh and interesting.
What I`m listening to...
Ever watched (don`t bother listening, it is boring, not a whistley tune in sight) "TOTP" lately? Like watching a possie (watch it!) of prostituutes at an audition!
