I have the Kasabian album and it is very good, although it has been overhyped by the NME. The Killers album is also supposed to be good, but Athlete sound particularly dull to me.
Killers album is very poor. Good first three tracks then degenerates into self-important rubbish. Lots of people seem to like them, mind, so maybe you could give them a try. But not my cup of tea at all. Downloaded and deleted :D
Kasabian is possibly even worse, there are a couple of good tracks but plenty of filler. I saw them live by chance before they were really known about - all I can say is that they have one hell of a promotional team behind them. Their people were giving away all sorts of stuff, and people had flags and banners to get the name about. They`re all hype, no music.
The Athlete album you mention is from a year or two ago and is quite good. Catchy and well produced. It`s not the sort of album you`d play constantly or would say was the best album of the year, but it`s consistent all the way through. I reckon it`s certainly better than the new single they have out, which seems to have lost the jolly beat of the first album.
RE: Can anyone recommend........
The Killers album is awesome - I never tire of listening to it!!
I thinks the only poor track is the last one, but tracks like Mr Brightside, Glamorous indie rock n` roll and Somebody Told Me are just brilliant - cannot recommend it highly enough.
Athletes` album is pretty good, but Kasabians` is awful.

I think the moral of this thread is "Listen to them yourself" as all 3 replies have given different opinions! 8)

Indeed :)
RE: Can anyone recommend........
The Killers album is very hit and miss for me, the tracks that have been out as singles are good, the others are okish. The Kasabian one is bad...I downloaded and deleted it after one listen..they are indeed all Hype and no actual product..terrible. As for the Athelete one, I duno, Ive not got the album but I thought the singles of theirs so far have been alright...

Personally, I always give an album at least half a dozen listens before I judge it. The Kasabian album isn`t as immediate as a lot of other albums I own, but I persisted with it and I think it is very good. Everyone is entitled to their opinion of course, but one listen seems a bit harsh before slagging it off.
Totally agree with Bigfan about Kasabian
If I hear the phrase "The New Stone Roses" one more time im declare a jihad on music journalists.
