Videologic Digitheatre DTS or Yamaha HTiB

john_mcg (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 6th June 2002, 08:38

Hi,

I`m looking for a home cinema setup for a medium size room, say 4.5m x 3.5m . One of the setups I was considering was the videologic digitheatre dts. Is this system any good, i.e. would it fill a room of this size. I had a Sony Dav-s300 for a month and that did the job, would the videologic solution be up to the same performance?
I am also looking at a yamaha HTiB 45 - if anyone has heard both it`d be a great help.

Cheers,
John.

Hello,

I used to have the Videologic DTS and my room was a lot bigger than yours and the sound filled it really well. It`s not the prettiest thing to look at, but it really does sound fantastic and the Subwoofer is amazing.

Before I bought it, I tested it against 2 of the Sony kits and the Yamaha VS10 and I thought it was much better.
It`s a bit more pricey than the others (£399) but there are deals around. Comet (In Cwmbran at least) have the Black version for £250 (Silver still £399).

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info.

Upgraded to the DTS but have the 5.1 version of the Digitheatre now surplus to requirements. Let me know if you`re interested as it`s the comlete kit.

Are you serious ?
The Yamaha HTib45 is a much superior machine.
It produces 65w RMS per channel as opposed to the Digitheatre`s 30w RMS.
It looks much better has a built in radio and far more connections.
It has buckets of DSP modes and Dolby Digital Ex (Matrix) and DTS ES (Matrix)
It also has a Prologic 2 decoder built in.Very important.
Thats my twopence worth.
