How to connect dvd with component output to TV with scart socket?
I`m currently using Toshiba SD9000 dvd player with Sony KV28FX65. The player doesn`t have scart output so I have to connect it with S-Video cable. The picture quality is acceptable but I guess I need to hook them up via component (YUV) output to get the best from my dvd. Somehow, my TV doesn`t have component input..
I tried to use it with QED SQART AV19 which stated on the website that
"For use where RGB + Sync component video and Stereo audio signals need to be transmitted from a Scart equipped AV source to and RCA phono-equipped high end TV or video projector. This cable is directional"
It`s a 24pin scart on one side and 6 phono (Red, Green, Blue, Sync, Audio L, Audio R) but there was no picture, nor sound.
Then QED have launched the new serie SQART AV29 which is described
"For use where an RGB or YUV component video and stereo audio signals need to be transmitted to a Scart equipped TV. This cable is suitable for both component video formats. When using a YUV source ensure the TV has a YUV compatible Scart input."
So, I have a few questions that
1 Is YUV compatible Scart input the same as RGB scart input?
2 What the Sycn? I don`t have a clue with this one.
3 Will the AV29 work on my tv, is there an alternative.
Thanks for every answers..

RE: How to connect dvd with component output to TV with scart socket?
Basically, you`re trying to connect a DVD player with YUV output to a TV that only has RGB input. It won`t work, no matter what cable you buy.
To answer your questions...
1) No, YUV and RGB are totally different (and incompatible). I`ve never heard of a YUV compatible SCART input. RGB is a *type* of component signal, but when people say "component" they normally mean YUV.
2) Sync is the additional signal you need with a RGB connection, to synchronise the inputs with the TV`s display. With YUV, the sync is included in the "Y" (luminance) signal, so an extra Sync connection is not necessary.
So you have:
RGB: Red, Green, Blue, and Sync (4 connections)
YUV: Y, Cb, Cr (3 connections)
3) No. It`s possible to get YUV to RGB converters, though, but they aren`t cheap. The only other solution is to replace your TV with one that has YUV input, or to get a DVD player with RGB output to replace your SD9000. (Or just stick with S-Video.)
