Hey, yeah i was very interested when i found out Cambrigde Audio had got a dvd player, so i got the "Cambridge Audio DVD53 (Multi-region)", for about £120- ish from RicherSounds. very pleased with it, brilliant playback of DVD`s many nice remote, actually uses a button battery, thus making it very slim, the front of the player, keeping with the CA ways, is very simple, you do everything from the remote basically. the MP3 playback is great because you can view alot more charicters than my previous dvd player the "Acoustic Solutions DVD651 SILVER (Multi-region)" which was also very good. the only thing is about the DVD 53 is the lack of knollege of it, i was looking for some hacks, for it, if there was any, but cant find any. it comes multi regon anyway, and plays all the dvd very well, one problem i found was i didnt set the setting to PAL, i left it as auto, and with it as auto, the screen flickered with NTSC DVD`s. but go buy one, and if you find anymore info on the, post it up, i`m sure cant be the only one with one! there is no mention of it on the CA website either, i did begin to wonder if it infact was made by them or not!

It`s a Chinese model, and definitely not made by Cambridge themselves. In fact, it could actually be a Sampo player.

What would be very helpful (for my website http://www.area450.com) would be if you could post the first, say four digits of the serial number (and post the rest as X), and if possible a manufacture date.

That should determine whether it is a Sampo or not :-)

Sure, Serial No.: BB DVD53/s UK 0302 XXXX

umm, where would i find the manufacture date?
Also, there`s a website on the back reading
"www.cambridge-audio.co.uk"
which dosent exist!

So why do you think DVD50 series dosen`t reature on their website?
On there website it says:
"Designed & engineered in the UK"
so this would meen if your correct that it wasn`t?
