HELP! - Sherwood R-325RDS turning itself off

flyingmonkey (Elite) posted this on Wednesday, 1st May 2002, 18:12

Hi all

It seems that when my amp is in any Dolby (Pro Logic, 3 stereo) mode and receives a Dolby signal it will switch itself to stand by.

This only happens when receiving a dolby signal. For instance if I have Dolby turned on but listen to a CD or the radio, it will stop on. Also, if I don`t use Dolby for a while then turn it on it works ok for a couple of days then starts turning itself off.

I hope someone can help.

Thanks in advance.

Nick

I take it no-one has had this problem, then.

Oh well I`m getting a new amp soon anyway ;-)

Had a similar problem with my new Panasonic SA-HE9 on Saturday. Thought it was overheating but there was hardly any heat being generated.
Had the bright idea to check all the connections into the speakers - found the positive connection on the centre speaker had worked itself loose and was causing a `short` which would trip the overload circuitry.

That might be worth a try - if you haven`t already.

Thanks

Checked all connections, had it on all day yesterday and it was working fine. Will just have to keep my eye on it.
