Try http://www.richersounds.com

They have various amps/receivers starting under £150. You can get a set of speakers for about the same. The problem I see with some of the cheaper amp/speaker combinations is a lack of inputs. I`d want to plug in the TV, video and DVD for surround on everything.

Post your findings/shortlist here - I`m sure someone will have experience of them.
Alternatively, someone might be looking to upgrade their amp (ahem - Clayts?!) and may have something going second hand (although trading like that is not allowed via the forum, I`m sure a way can be found without incurring the moderators` wrath).

I would highly recommend the Sony DAVS-300.

I got it for £350.00 from comet, but i know its slightly cheaper on the net, even as low as £280.

It has DTS, Dolby Digital 5.1 and doubles up as a HiFi rather nicely.
