28PW6006 Vs 28PW6515

r8sso (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 4th April 2002, 20:11

After reading bad reviews about the 6515 I was wondering if the 6006 would be a safer investment for my money?!

Whats the best place to buy either of these models online? The best I`ve found is unbeatable.co.uk that sells the 6515 for £450 without stand and the 6006 for £380 inc stand.

Thanks.

The 6006 has been reviewed several times in the last 2-3 weeks in various mags, It`s got a very good reputation, Picture & sound very good, especially colour & contrast, also good sound.
www.hispek.com have it for £399 inc stand, vat & delivery AND includes FREE £120 Philips VCR !!

I`m avoiding the 6515, Personally I think it`s a liability

I currently have a 32PW6515 and intend to send it back and get a refund.
The picture seems out of focus with my OnDigital and DVD player - have tried SVideo, Composite and RGB - all give similarly poor results. Perhaps I am being fussy but the picture is definitely worse than the 7 yr old Mitshubishi 28" Nicam telly I upgraded from. I also had a Panasonic for a week or so (that went back cos of a dodgy scart socket and they havent got any more left) and the Philips has a poorer picture than that.
Have read of a few other people on www.avforums.com who are unhappy with their 32PW6515.
I was considering the 32PW6006 and the feedback I had from other people was that if you ignore the non-flat screen then it is better Picture than the 6515 and problem free. But I was a snotty idiot and decided to spend the extra on the 6515 - regret!
PS do you know that the 32PW6006 is around £500 including delivery from www.unbeatable.co.uk (without a stand)?

Must have stopped the offer, Used to be on website & in their adverts in the mags such as what hi-fi, what tv etc,etc

As for 6006, If it was a flat screen I`d get it, Suppose I`m being silly but personally I just can`t get a non flat screen, However if your not fussed then it`s a brilliant set.

Don`t buy a 28PW6006 - I have a 21" NICAM Mitsubishi and it is perfect. (Except it`s not WS) It is really (not) funny to read harry`s comments about the Philips because I think they are spot on. The picture quality on the Philips ranges from very good to awful (they are very fussy with virtually everything you throw at them) my DVD and STB both needed setting-up to get a halfway decent picture but the tubes are poor. Mine is suffering from Colour Distortion and you may want to read about the hassle I am having with Currys to get the thing taken away. Two months ago I wanted a replacement, but now I am adamant that it cannot be given house room and I will never shop with DSG Retail ever again.

Can`t fault unbeatable.co.uk for customer service. I bought a Cyberhome AD-L528 from there and it was a lemon. They took it back and gave a full refund. (Are you reading DSG?) I will purchase a new television from them if they have the best price when I decide on the model I want.
