MICO CLASICA FOR EXCHANGE...

pjaxon (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 26th March 2002, 23:30

I currently have a 2 week old Mico Classica that i want to exchange for another player, that has at least as good, picture quality. It will also need to be Macro free (or the ability to be modified) because unfortunately i have to connect it through my video. Im open to offers, ideally. Pioneer or Sony.

The Mico is an excellent all round unit and plays anything. But the macro
defaults to ON every time it is switched on. Which is driving me mad !
If anyone knows how to correct this please let me know because I would
rather keep the machine ! ! Thanks.

Anyone found a firmware update for either this model or the Celo 80 ?

If you have only had it 2 weeks, why not take it back? Just say it does not do what you want.

The only players I know which stay macro free with a hack are the Dansai 852 (I have one ) the Pacific 750 and I think the Goodmans one with speakers.

I also have a Mico A980 if you want to make me an offer?

You will be very lucky to find a Dansai 852. Instead buy a Decca Video 2110 from www.powerhouse.co.uk The Decca Video 2110 consists of the same internal hardware as the Dansai. It uses the same macro and multiregion hack. I ordered one this afternoon.

Saw a pallet ( ca. 49 ) of Dansai 852 in Tesco Extra at Fforestfach in Swansea some two weeks ago and another pallet-load in Cardiff this weekend, so they are still about !
