Page 1 of Samsung or Panasonic LED
Hardware Forum
A few years ago I`d go Panny every time, and I`m very tempted to this time, but there`s just something about Samsung and their products these last few years that has me hooked...
There`s a similar priced Sammy & Panny at John Lewis which both look stunning and there`s not much to choose from in terms of spec... the Sammy has better sound options and the Panny has a memory card slot is pretty much the only difference I can see.
My current Plasma is a Panny and I think it`s gorgeous. The main reason for upgrading is my GF wants 3D so while we get that for her I`m going to get myself an extra 8"!
Is there anything on paper to justify ones superiority over the other or is it going to be so close that it`s down to personal preference? Smart TV functionality just isn`t somehting I think I`d use...
Cheers
Ross
At the moment the current setup could accomodate the slightly bigger size/weight of a plasma but as we already have two 42" plasmas I`m thinking for future proofing purposes, a thin LED is probably best.
I`ve read about movie buffs enjoying the warmer colours of a plasma and darker blacks giving a more realistic movie experience... not sure that argument would hold with the GF though!
I`ve had a 47 panny 3D for past 3 months and it is an awesome picture. And very impressed with the 3D too.
I did lots of reading before buying and the panny came out just ahead of Sammy in reviews and forum posts too.
Only let down is lack of 4od and Itv player - but you said smart functions aren`t important. So Panny all the way!
I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which i`m dying are the best i`ve ever had.
I`ve gone for the Samsung F6500.
Viewed the Panny & Samsung instore at the weekend and was impressed by both. I stayed at my mates over the weekend who has a Samsung (F6670) and he`s spent a while setting it up and it was amazing! Fingers crossed my similar model will not disapoint!
Ordered from John Lewis with express delivery for Friday morning 7-9am! Looks like I`m working from home this Friday!!!
<-- This is me on Friday with my 3D glasses on!
Buying TV from JL gives you extra 4 yrs guarantee on top of the normal 1 yr warranty. (total 5 yrs warranty)
Yeah - Richer Sounds were doing 5yr warranty with the same model but I prefer JL as my first 42" Plasma (Philips!) was from there in 2004. It broke after 4.5 years (long time for a philips!) and they replaced it with a new HD Panasonic Viera - still going strong to this day. Soon to be a bedroom TV from Friday!
Pannys currently come with a 5 year warranty as standard if it helps anyone. I`m sorely tempted to get the 50" now that it`s close to £1100, especially since Richer Sounds pledge to beat Internet prices.
