I know this is going to be easy one for all the home cinema enthusiasts but I`ve started talking myself into a cinema package for shear convenience!
I was looking at a Onkyo TXNR717 + Tannoy SFX5.1 speakers but realised I`m going to need to spend an extra £50 on stands for the back speakers (wall mounting isn`t an option) plus I need to sort out the issue with the wires running from the front to the back! Wireless senders seem to be around the £100 mark. £399 + £199 + £50 + £wireless
On the other hand there is a Samsung HT-F6550W which still has two HDMI inputs for my Sky HD and laptop so everything I need really... £550 all in.

Ps. is the TXNR717 and Tannoy speakers a bit of a mismatch? Have I gone OTT with that unit? It reviews so well and the components I hope will stop and lip sync issues with passing my Sky HD through it; something which I`m worried about with the Samsung.

Personally I'd always opt for separates as it affords greater flexibility, but that Samsung thing seems to have decent user reviews. I think it only has a total of two HDMI inputs though.

My problem with the buyer reviews is most those people are just buying Samsung packages as they match the brand of their TV and are always going to say "best I`ve ever heard"! I don`t mean to sterotype them but I bet very few would tweak their setup and will be listening to it straight from the box... not the best reviews to base your decision on! :)
I`ve never owned a Blu Ray player all these years so most my content is going to be through my Sky HD/3D subscription...that may change if the 3D/5.1 experience is so good, going back to 700Mb .avi downloads becomes dirty!

I know what you mean, what some people think is amazing I've listened to and wondered how they can even stand it!
I'm not sure I've ever had an audio system that I haven't spent weeks fiddling with and tweaking settings before I was happy with it.

Once you've watched BD on a decent TV Sky will look like crap. Forget about 3D - that's not going to show off the format to the best of its ability - just focus on regular discs. There are a few duds, but by and large we're utterly spoiled by the quality of HD releases these days.
