I have the Toshiba sd110e and I think it`s an excellent player.

I beg to differ on the looks of the Toshibas. I think they look great, there are no unsightly knobs etc which you never use

I like the minimilist look but I know it`s not to everyone`s tastes.

The remote is small and easy to use.

You can get it multi-region for £140 from www.electrocentre.com

They also do the sd210e for £170 multi-region.

Thanks for the reply, I`ve only seen the Tosh in a picture so it was a bit presumptious of me to say they looked crap. I`m starting to sway that way though, I remember reading up somewhere that the SD110 is a very good player so the 210 should be even better (in theory).

Interesting to find out if these H&B thing are any good though, anyone got one yet??

The Toshiba 210 is a good looking machine & plays almost everything, BUT it has lip sync problems on SVCDs. These are increasingly popular & can be almost as good as DVD. The Toshiba 110 does not play MP3s.
My friend in S.Wales says there is one in the local Yello free adds for £65-00. (if your near there). The H&B goes on sale about now at `Allders` they charge £149-00.

Well if the missus gets upset will she get upset if you can`t make VHS copies from your machine, trying to explain why it wont won`t hold any water,so pheraps you might need macro off feature...just a thought.

Dont know if any of the above machines have this or not. I would go for a Tosh!

I have a Macro buster & it does a good job, Mine was £59-00 But I have seen them at £29-00. I would not buy a DVD player because of the Macro off basis (Good though the thought is). The Toshiba 210 is fantastic picture wise & are available at about £150-00 because they are being discontinued, however I really think it is important to get one with good SVCD playback & although the Toshiba will play back SVCDs with fantastic sound & picture, the lip sync is extremely ennoying & to me unwatchable. I`m going to try the Mica(£90-00) in the bigger Sainsburys later tonight, but there are not a lot left. It seems to have everything & I will get back when I kinow more.
