Page 1 of Which Scart socket
Hardware Forum
I have 3 scarts sockets on the back of my TV.
To which would u connect a VCR, Satellite Box and a DVD player. My first socket is RGB.
Ideally you should send the DVD player to the RGB scart - this will give you the best possible picture (you might have to check a menu setting on the DVD player to make sure it is outputting an RGB signal). Your satellite box should also be capable of outputting RGB though so you would have to swap the scart cables whenever you wanted to switch between DVD and satellite RGB. The alternative is to check if your DVD has player has more than one scart socket and is capable of loop-through. If it does then you can connect the satellite box to the first scart on the DVD player then connect the second scart socket on the DVD to the RGB scart on the TV. The satellite signal will then be passed throught the DVD player (even when it is switched off) to the RGB scart on the TV. This worked perfectly with my old Sony 335 DVD player, Nokia Digibox and Hitachi TV which had only one RGB scart.
Your VCR can be connected to either of the non-RGB scarts on the TV as VHS decks do not output RGB signals.
My DVD player doesn`t have a scart socket.
What dvd player do you have?
Sony DAVS500
Put your sattelite in the first one (RGB) and use the other two for the other two boxes.
Get an adapter so you can put S-Video lead into the scart socket, should cost about a fiver.
Your VCR is only composite unless it`s a SVHS model. However, your second and third scart sockets are both S-Video compatible I reckon, so it doesn`t matter.
