Page 1 of Have DVD player with 6-channel output? Get these speakers!

I`ve been looking for a set of amplified surround sound speakers for ages - then some come through the post today and all is right with the world! The new Videologic ZXR 500 are absolutely fantastic and ideal for anyone like me, who has a DVD player with on board decoding and doesn`t want to fork out for £200-odd speakers. Gladiator and T2 could both be heard down my street.

So how much were they and where did you get them?

They have been selling like HOT CAKES when they were on today only
yesterday.A good product if you dvd player has 6 channel analog output.

The ZXR-500 are fantastic. I plugged them into my Cyberhome 528 (took me 5 minutes to set up) and they sounded AMAZING! Got mine from Simply for £65. WOW WOW WOW! They are a bargain. They sound so good they would be worth twice their price.

Isnt this a PC DVD surrounds speaker set??

Would this really do for a living room, or is it a bedroom set only?

This system is for DVD players as well. Trust me that the system is more than powerful enough for a good sized living room. When considering other sound systems you must also consider the quality of the sound produced and not just the power. This system produces crystal clear sound with superb depth. I just finished watching The Matrix and I lost count of the number of times my stomach dropped at the lobby scene special effects (the volume was only turned up about an eighth of maximum volume). What is the difference between a bedroom set and living room set? Some bedrooms are bigger than some living rooms?

Can you comment on the build quality?
They look a bit plasticy. (yeah I know thats cos they are plastic)

Also on the manf. website they look a bit iffy, maybe it is the curvey
silvery stands. Can they be detatched?

I had my doubts too that the speakers/subwoofer may no be very sturdy but they are solid. The stands can be detached (I dont use mine) and are made of plastic. The system doesn`t look really expensive (as it isn`t) but it doesn`t look cheap and nasty either. The speakers have a bit of weight to them and are not too big, likewise with the subwoofer. For its size and price the ZXR-500 system is a solid performer and has surprisingly good build quality and does not appear cheap.
