Question for all wide-screen television owners..........
Hi - I`m thinking of buying my first widescreen TV. I was just wondering if there are any makes/models that have a sort of "continuous zoom" function -eg- is it possible to gradually make a 4:3 picture bigger (without distorting the picture!), or do most tvs only have the 16:9, 14:9, 4:3 options?
Also - any recommendations for a decent 32" up to £1000 ??
Thanks for any help/info!!
RE: Question for all wide-screen television owners..........
My TV (Philips 32PW6305) has this feature. Good set too, and probably a lot cheaper than £1000.

I would save a bit more cash & buy what ive got :-)
Its a Panasonic TX42PT10, Ive cut & pasted the following which I posted on here a while ago
Looking to buy a widescreen TV ?
Look no further, I am so pleased with the TV I have recently bought, I thought it only fair that I share this with you and insist that you buy one if you can.
The TV I own is a Panasonic TX42PT10. I bought it from www.empiredirect.co.uk
It is a 42" rear projection widescreen TV, it has 3 scarts at rear (2 of RGB) & 1 SVHS socket in a conceled panel at the front. Auto switching between 100 Hz & progressive scan depending on signal (IE PAL or NTSC) Plenty of aspect modes (4:3, 14:9, 16:9, Auto (Wide) zoom, super zoom & just (just converts 4:3 to full widescreen with minimal distortion)
With this TV you can also tell your Video what AV socket to record from ! for example, I`ve connected my DVD player directly to the TV through 1 of the RGB scarts but can tell my TV to send the signal to my video thus enabling my to record DVD`s without connecting the DVD player directly to my video - cool huh ? The teletext function is also cool. apart from being able to choose the exact page I want (think this is becoming standard on most TV`s) it also has a split screen mode where 1 half of the screen is the transmitted station in full & the other half is a full teletext page !! The remote is what you would expect, but it can also operate any Panasonic DVD or video player at the flick of a switch.
I know this thread is long winded but hey, im impressed
