CREATING A MULTI REGION

Denisneads (Harmless) posted this on Monday, 25th February 2002, 23:07

I have a Sony DVD model DAV-S300 and would like to make it multi region. Can anybody help me? I am visiting the States on Sat 2nd March and would be interested in purchasing some DVD`s over there if I can play them on my home DVD player.

The hack forum is the place for this, but there is no hack that you can perform to make the player multiregion. You need to get it chipped or altered with a special remote. http://www.dvdchips.co.uk do a conversion kit that you hire from them - go to the site and have a look at the "no solder mods" section. It will cost you about £50.
From comments on this site in the past, prices on the high street in the States aren`t that much better than over here, in general - mail order is the way to go - I would check out prices on http://www.dvdimport.com (free del to the UK) as a baseline before you go.

I also have the DAVS300 and got the DIY kit from www.techtronics.com. It works a treat. If you don`t know anyone who can solder I would recommend that get them to modify your player.

Richard,
Many thanks for your message. DVD`s are released in the States before over here so I was hoping to get `Lord of the Rings` . Thanks again for the information.
