DVDR880 on it`s way out. What replacement?

KBL (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 23rd March 2010, 20:15

My six year old Philips DVDR880, which had a laser replacement in year one, seems to be dying. Getting Empty Disc Errors on some types of DVD media.

What is around now that would make a good value for money region free replacement?

TIA

It`s a difficult question to respond to without any idea of budget. However, for reliability when recording to disc, plus great GUI and ease of use, plus loads of functionality, I`d recommend a good look at the Panasonic range. £250-£300 will get you a DVD recorder, with hard disc drive, freeview tuner, multi-region playback, SD card input, and probably USB input and loads of different filetype compatibility.

Take a look around. :)

Thanks Sue. I`ll check out the Panasonics then.
