ANYWAY OF TURNING STANDARD TV INTO NTSC FORMAT

needley (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 7th February 2002, 18:42

Hello Everyone

I bought the Region X for my PS2 and habe only one problem, my TV does not support NTSC and I get a B/W screen. It`s is not stated clearly in big letter on the box. I just wonderd if anyone knew a way of turning a Standard TV into NTSC format.

I would like something to pluginto my TV rather then fork out on a new one that supports NTSC.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

you should be able to buy a standard`s converter which should do the job. from either lektropaks or keene electronics. i dont know their web addresses but they advertise in most mag`s like. what tv & video home entertainment. of hand i cant remember the price.

If your TV supports RGB input via SCART, just buy a Playstation RGB SCART lead for a few quid and use that. (The SCART lead that comes with the PS2 is not a RGB one.)

Most TVs made in the last 10 years or so can accept RGB, and it`s a lot cheaper (and better quality) than messing around with NTSC-PAL converters.

It will generally tell you in the manual (often tucked away somewhere).

Anyway, if the TV is recent enough to have 2 SCARTs, then it almost certainly is RGB compatible - usually the first SCART (AV1 or whatever) is the RGB capable one.

I`m not 100% clear on what you are saying. If I am not sure whether my TV can accept an NTSC signal and I do know it has an RGB scart does that mean I can view region 1 DVD`d in colour by using the an RGB scart to connect the DVD player and the TV ??

AndyPandy,

Yep - that`s exactly right. (Assuming your DVD player has RGB output, of course, but 99% of them do.)
