Page 1 of Sky boxes both Kaput

Evening All !
Can you guys help with my Sky box trouble? I`ve an HD box which won`t record, pause or playback anymore. This fault seems to have coincided with the new card changeover. The + box upstairs now also has this problem but will playback previously recorded stuff. Sky haven`t been any help, they talked me through a reset, then a reformat, but I still have the same problem, and they want £65 for a call out. I`ll check the dish connectors in the daylight tomorrow, but any thoughts for now?

If it`s not recording after a changeover card then Sky haven`t sent the signal to allow the card to record and pair to the box.
The HD box could be a bit more severe as it may be the same, or it may have a failed/failing hard drive.

First step, pull the plug. Yes, COMPLETELY remove the power plug not just standby and wait a minute or so. Plug back in and it`ll take ages to allow you to switch it on again but might cure the ills.
If that fails then:
Into services, into setup and Sky+ Planner rebuild on both boxes.
It might be under the installer menu but think it`s in the normal.
If no joy, then into the Installer Menu (that`s the one you need to press 01 select from the services menus) and go to "New Installation" and try that, sometimes that re-pairs the card to the new box and cures the issues.

If that doesn`t work, ring Sky again and tell them they can shove their HD box, shove their Multi-room subscription and as a matter of fact they can shove the whole lot cos you aren`t subscribing to a service you can`t use... oh and the local Cable guys were in the street and offering the same with a new V+ and V+HD box for at least a tenner less than you`re already paying ;)

The HD box seems to have cured itself after 24 hours ( formatted the drive >:( ) ,but the old + box is the same. I`ll bell sky again and get them to resend the signal for that box. Four hours my arshe, more like 34. Tossers.
