Page 1 of Audio Connection?
Hardware Forum
Hi,
I`ve just bought a Toshiba 32Z18P 32" widescreen TV, VCR and Toshiba 210 DVD player. I`ve connected the DVD and TV using component video but I have a problem with the audio between the two...
When I bought the equipment I knew that I wanted to use component video but my knowledge of audio is scant and so when I asked the guy about it he said I needed a separate audio input and got me a lead.
Now, I`ve tried to fit this lead but the outer rim seems slightly too small and I`m not sure I want to try and force it too much. This got me thinking that maybe I got given the wrong lead? It`s an IXOS Audio Interconnect Cable (105 is the model number, I believe). If anyone can tell me either way if this is right or wwrong I`d be grateful :)
P.S. Would a Denon 1602 work well with this setup plus a CD player and maybe a PS2?
Good quality leads will usually be tight, but I`m not familiar enough with how you`re connecting everything to feel able to comment further.
The Denon 1602 would be a great addition (plus some speakers, too, of course) - to save some cash you could use the Toshiba 210 as your CD player - it`s meant to work quite well as such. Try http://www.hifistore.co.uk for a good price on the Denon - they have it for £249
If i am correct the Tosh tv is Dolby digital compatable therefore the excellent Ixos lead you have should be fine indeed..This lead goes from the coaxial output of the DVD player to the digital input ( DVD ) on your TV. Providing however your DVD does have a coxial output and not the spdif ( opitcal ) one...In my view the Denon as a whole no matter where on the scale, are very good products indeed and come highly recommended at any value so good luck in your hunting...Final point if this lead does not work it might be better for the time being getting two audio leads to connect from your DVD to your TV this will only give you dolby stereo and surround will not give you the full benefits of Dolby Digital...It all sounds confusing but rest assured it gets easier..A good site for any queries is www.homecinemachoice.com..Enjoy!
It sounds like the same IXOS lead as mine. You simply inscrew the gold plating casing, place that over the connection on each bit of kit and then put the piece with the lead attachced into the socket, then turn the gold socket, thus locking the connector to both pieces of gear. It took me a while to figure that out too.
Pete.
