Slight judder playing R1

Dogma (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Monday, 21st January 2002, 17:41

IWhen I play R1 dvd`s anything that moves across the screen, or when the camera pans, there is a very slight judder.:-( R2 play okay, Is this due to the TV or the R2 player being set at R1 or all regions.

Souunds like Pal 50 to me. I believe you have a JVC player (many of which support Pal 50), if so, then you need to alter the output to either Pure NTSC or Pal 60. I`m not familiar with the GUI of JVC players, but there will either be a straightforward `output` option in the menu or maybe a switch around the back?. It may even be listed as Quasi-Pal Y/N, in which case you should set this to ON (quasi-pal is Pal 60 which won`t judder half as noticeably). Have a play around with the settings anyway...

Thanx for that Tony, pointed me in the right direction. Selected `auto` instead of pal and can now chop n change R1 R2 with no judder.
