Philips MX1060D / DFR1600 Problems?
Hi All I bought the said model before Christmas but only got to play around with it lately. It took a lot of energy to get it up the stairs, the box was very heavy It will play CDR`s. Yet to try a Region 1 disc. Has anyone got success on making it region free. I have had a few problems with the sound being out of synch, usually after a layer transition, if I return to to start of the chapter then all is well again. Is this a harware or software problem. I`m finding it difficult to get a good centre speaker level, without annoying the neighbours,(perhaps I`m too familiar with Pro logic). Is it possible to upgrade to software to include DTS, i`ve tried to play Gladiator in DTS audio setup, but to no avail. Has anyone found the remote very fiddly? Although not bad value at £449 IR Punts or should i say 570 EURO!
Cheers

I had the same problem with the out of sync sound, it seems to happen if you use fast frame forward/back too many times.
I have also found on some discs the sub will not operate unless the first few frames are fast forwarded. This has happened on Shrek & Dr. Dolittle and proves to be a pain.
I have found for me the best speaker setup is to have the rear speakers at +10dbs, fronts at -7dbs, sub at +4dbs and centre at +1dbs. I have found that this gives the surround much more punch, especially at lower volumes.
Have had no luck with the region hack as yet, however I think that an one4all URC7562 may do the trick as it can learn the codes from the existing Philips remote and may enable the `magic` code to be entered.
Currently one4all do not have a code for the mx1060d.
Apart from that the machine is good, it really has loads more volume than many other all in one systems, therefore it does not need to be run at full power all the time.
Any luck on region free let me know as I have watched nearly all the DVD`s from Xtravision!!
