Which Player?

ajk11111111 (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Friday, 3rd November 2000, 19:53

hi,
i already have a dvd player and have had it about a year and a half and want to upgrade to a multi region one that allows you to select the region u require, but without the use of a chip. i have the panasonic a150 at the moment and would like a good one reasonably priced. i watch my region 1 dvd`s on my pc but would like to watch films on my widescreen tv, and as i have not got a tv out card i cant do it that way.
any help would be great.
cheers

Usual rules apply here, AJK (how many 1`s ???!!!)

(1) Budget ?
(2) Type of playback - MP3, CDR, CD-RW, VCD, S-VCD ?
(3) What telly ?
(4) Do you want one where you can disable Macrovision (ie tape to VCR) ?

Answer the questions and watch the opinion flood in....

Hope this helps contributors to help you...

C :-)

i would recomend the phillips 710 or higher the 710 can be got for around £190 you cant manually select the reigon but the auto has passed the rce test to my knowledge and it has the best picture i have seen.

colours are not the brightest but what i find very important is that it plays cdr/rw and mine has 0 pixelisation and 0 lip sync problems and i have seen a lot of players with those problems macro cant be disabled unless you get a copy box no mp3 or out like that just dam good dvd playback.

i got mine made multi reigon for £25 with a software upgrade type thing does not affect warranty.
