Just bought a couple of 113`s as chrimbo presents and have therefore had a bit of a play. Played cd-rw`s no problem, and even played mp3`s, but my gold layered cdr`s were not recognised. Probably worth experimenting with a few different brands.

Your 113 will need the firmware update if you want to do anything other than play DVD`s and and factory CD`s. Apparently if your player has had the update, it should show a green band down the left hand side of the screen when viewing the on-screen menu - it`ll be red if it hasn`t. You`ll have to contact Alba to get hold of this software. The one I tried had obviously been updated in the factory.

For a hundred sovs I don`t think you can really complain and I think it is a decent entry level player.

Just for clarity, I found that cdr`s did not work - only re-writable cd`s. The cdr`s I tried where gold layered - I didn`t try the white jobs at all (they may work)
