Sort of following on from the `Where to buy cables` thread

Buying one of these nice shiny Samsung`s today (it`s cheaper than the 37" at the moment!). I have noticed that on my old 32" Samsung LCD that I get residual images left on the screen when playing Blu-Ray from my PS3.

The bloke in Comet told me that this is more than likely down to the HDMI lead I am using and they are trying to get me to buy this £85 High Speed Monster Cables that fully supports 1080p & HDMI v1.3, as well as one of these power surge/filter jobbies for £127.50.

Now I know that they`ll try to flog me anything, but would the above accessories make any difference at all? My 360 runs fine through the old TV (at 720p), but the `ghosting` on the PS3 is driving me mad.

Cheers

It sounds to me like they are trying it on mate. I am no expert but I would say keep ya money and get a good ish cable.

If ya got money and its no worrys then go for it but personally I wouldn`t bother.

Just my opinion though. :/

Have you asked the experts (not Comet)?

It sounds like your HDMI input board on the tv. Is it like a sort of screen burn? We have had one Samsung do that and it was the board.

Yeah, I suppose it is a bit like that. TV doesn`t have HDMI input - HDMI output from Onkyo receiver is put into TV`s DVI socket via converter, of which there is only one. Weird thing is it only does it with the PS3. 360 & upscaling DVD player are fine.

The one we had was only on the PS3 too. Did it with mine on his tv but not when we I hooked up an HDMI DVD player. As you have no HDMI then it may be the DVI board. They are both digital after all. It is weird that it it just does it on the PS3, but a board swap sorted it for us.

Here`s a budget one. This is what I am using and it really rocks.

Unsolicited advice. After you get your M8, use these settings, and enjoy brilliant HD images.
