Apart from the gaping hole they leave in your bank account, are their any drawbacks to plasma screens?

The only drawback that I can see is that a lot of plasma screens do not have scart connections, although they usually have component connections!!

Most plasma screens also don`t have great black levels - due to a limited contrast range. The best I`ve seen seem to be the latest Pioneer ones.
They look cool though :-)

yes the cheaper ones don`t have scart inputs they only have composite inputs or vga inputs but you can buy a tv tuner box which will give you scart input, teletext etc etc other thing is noise most plasmas have fans to keep them cool so like a pc you will have a fan noise all the time. I would wait for a couple of years when prices will drop and realiabilty will improve.

Someone told me that their lifespan is less than a CRT telly. True or not? I have seen some ads for LCD tellies which are supposed to have around a 15 year of normal usage lifespan.
