Upscaling DVD Player

GJF (Competent) posted this on Wednesday, 5th September 2007, 11:51

I have a Pan DMR ES 10 DVD recorder. I am thinking of buying a Tevion upscaling DVD player with free HDMI lead. Can anyone tell me if this will enable me to upscale my old DVD`s and record them onto my Panasonic. I don`t have a HD TV.

No.

You have a standard DVD recorder, which will only record in standard DVD resolution. It does not have a HDMI input!

TBH, it is pointless thinking of buying an upscaling DVD player unless you have a HD TV, as without that, you cannot use the HDMI interface and reap the benefits of the upscaling.

When you buy a High Def plasma or LCD screen, then you can buy an upscaling DVD player, but you still will not be able to record the upscaled image.

Hope that helps.
