Tech Bods Alert! Pioneer 444 Presales Question

genki (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 11th December 2001, 14:59

Hello there. Im thinking of buying the lovely new Pioneer 444 DVD playah, from those charming chaps at Techtronics.

Now, the player is not equipped with any on-board decoding, and I do not have any outboard gear (simply a telly & a 2chan stereo hifii amp)

I want to know if I am going to get a stereo mixdown sound from the stereo audio OUTS on the unit, (rather than, say, the first two channels of the 5.1 mix) in order that I might hook them up to my amp.

What will the unit output? Will my television (SONY KV29FX11, 29" VEGA 50hz `98 model) be able to handle it?

Your assistance is gratefully apprecd.

The link I have been checking out is:

thanks !

ps: I tried techtronics but they are toooo busy to respond... :-/

OT:
With this particular player not requiring "chipping" in the normal sense, i.e. it only requires a firmware update to remove macrovision and make it multiregion, I would recommend you consider a different retailer for your player.

Interesting. Fascinating insight. Is there any more information in relation to this firmware update? Where might I begin to look for updates to the required firmware?

I shall search online...
