i have just seen the new Philips all-in-one cinema system and it looks very nice. the spec looks good too, and seems quite a bit cheaper than others like Sony. not many places sell it yet though and I have not seen anything about it in any of the magazines. Does anyone have anyhting to say about it?

I have just purchased said machine and I`ve got to admit it`s deffinatley worth the cash, once youv`e set the surround system up it works flawlesly and the picture quality is also excelent. I used to have the LG Home Cinema kit but decided to change due to the lack of region hacks I could find for the thing. I`ll post any problems I get with the unit, if I get any that is :-)

Hey,

I do have a question about the philips mx1060, does it support RGB output to your telly`s scart, and also smart picture controll?.

Thanks,
Charly.

Thanks for the comments. Im a bit confused as to whether its Dolby Surround or Dolby Pro-logic. Different plces say different things and even Philips seem slightly confused as to what they selling. Is it as good as, say the Sony DAVS300? Also, have u unlocked it, if so, did u use the usual Philips hack? And another question, any reason u can think of why its not on sale at many places? The vast majority of Audio Visual stores know nothing about it and its not been mentioned in magazines.

The machine is Dolby pro logic 5.1, the manual doesn`t say anything about it supporting DTS however there is a DTS light on the display. Unfortunatly I don`t currently have any DTS dvd`s to test is with. As for the comparison with the Sony unit I can`t really comment as I`ve not seen one in action.

As far as I can tell it looks like a new system, the machine is actually a DFR1600, but I can`t seem to find much info on this either.

Not tried the usual Philips hack as yet, wanted to wait until I found some more info on the unit itself.

I bought one of these machines last week. Seems to work well, although found that soundtrack on Final Destination was out of sync.
Only other problem is the size of the unit, I had to take the back off my tv cabinet in order for it to fit.
Instructions lack info as well.

Will the machine decode a Dolby Pro Logic TV signal ? Instructions say that it will only operate if a pro logic decoder is used.
Also can it support CDRW ?

Apart from that it was £350.00 well spent.

The unit does seem to decode the Pro Logic from the TV signal, however I have mine running through a ITV digital box.

According to the guy in the shop the unit will run CDRW disks, going to try one tonight.

£350.00, did you just buy the unit or home cinema kit, mine cost £420.00 :-(

The whole kit cost £350.00 from Richer Sounds (www.richersounds.ie).
I think that was a good deal, but I`ll reserve judgement for a week or two until the machine is well played in.
I think that I will try the region hack one of these days and report if it works, unless someone else does it first.

By the way is this a new model or old stock? It does not appear to be on the Philips web site and no one even seems to have reviewed it.

I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THE REGION HACK USED FOR OTHER PHILIPS MACHINES DOES NOT WORK WITH THE MX1060D.
DON`T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A ONE4ALL REMOTE!!

Bugger :-(

Do you know if the hack just doesn`t work or does it screw up the system. I allready have a One 4All jobbie for my last Philips.

I got the info from the shop, they said that they had tried every known trick in the book, however nothing worked.
I assume that it does does not damage the machine.

May be interesting to try anyway!!
