macro can be disabled by chipping only but of course copying dvd`s to tape is illegal ..

However If you do get it chipped, you can only effectivley back up R2s because of the way that the machine processes the pal60...Steve back me up on this, you told me about this didnt you?

On most players you cannot record NTSC disks even with macro off .... we sell macro chips to allow you to connect via a VCR not to record the DVD

I`m sure I read some where that you can alter the firmware to disable the macrovision.. i.e. connecting it to a laptop and altering the firmware ?

You`d probably be best sending it off to a reputable company to perform this modification.

Or you can always buy a macrovision removal box or scart cable called a Mac buster.

.. Why else would you want to connect it to your VCR ? Unless your television was run off valve technology and it didnt have Scart/Component/Composite etc. blah blah blah.

Why don`t you buy a Scart extension?
You would for your electrical socket.

Celtic i am suprised your player isnt all ready macrovision free. Where did you buy it from?.

These players at this time do not need "chipping" in the normal sense, they just need the firmware updating, (ie plug a laptop in the back and update).

One of the current firmwares makes the player multiregion and macrovision free and this is the firmware most retailers are using.
