please help....................im going mad
have just had new system, yamaha 620 and dont get me wrong titan a.e in dts is absolutely stunning.
problem is i am getting distortion somewhere but i cant quite place where. it doesnt happen on every movie but seems to be on certain pitches during a movie but its that iregular i think most times i am imagining it.
even more frustrating is that i used to get this with a videologic system i had but that ( i thought) was because i had the volumes right the way up and on the yamaha i dont need to. everything but the dvd player has been changed and i would appreciate any help on isolating the problem and sorting it.
you guys are my last hope..........and yes thats desperation.

Hi Peter
What DVD player are you using ?. What region discs are they ?.I had a problem with a Limit DVD player .When playing R1 discs ( Toystory 2 ) I noticed distortion on the sound track in various places. This problem did not happen when Richer Sounds exchanged the player for an LG 4210.
Hope this is of help

pioneer model it is an early one dv515 but it has happened on both regions,
although as i have said its not on every movie, and not when you would expect it to distort if you had a problem ie shouting and explosions are fine.
its a pain in the ass and is that infrequent i find myself playing back scenes incase i imagined it, the wife goes nuts.
last night i watched remember the titans in dts and the crowds were going mad without any problem, but road trip the night before i noticed it in a couple of places. weird huh?

have you thought of it possibly being something vibrating because of the sound waves as oppossed to distortion - things like picture frames can vibrate against a wall if the frequency is right - hence why it only happens sometimes - i had this with a coat hanger on a door !
i would suggest playing the THX WoW signal (the bit with the THX logo and then it says "the audience is listening" with a black backround) as this sweeps through a lot of the frequencies and might help you to track it down.
