fixing a freeview aerial outdoor

coke_dude (Elite) posted this on Wednesday, 28th February 2007, 07:25

Im trying to fix my tv aerial
the aerial looks ok to me (no visible rust etc)
the orientation also looks fine (same as all my neighbours) but the cable into my living room is rusty inside! so I suspect thats why there is no signal coming through
Im a DIY person so as with everything else I would like to fix it myself
but Im not sure which cable should I buy
I would like to receive freeview digital
I can get about 15 tv channels through my indoor aerial so I think Im set if I just change the cable on my outdoor aerial

so the question again
what cable should I buy
what connector does it use?
any other tips that might be helpful

thanks in advance

If you have rust on the inside of the cable then your ariel is leaking & will need replacing. Get the best freeview (wideband) ariel you can. Argos sell quite good ones from about £30-00 (off the top of my head). Don`t waste money going down the cheap route. Get new cable, gold satellite is best, otherwise a good TV ariel cable. New Coax plugs as well.

Todays The Day. Tomorrow can wait...
