Please recommend a budget DVD player which can play MPG & AVI files

jane2 (Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 18th February 2007, 10:34

Hello, my DVD player has sadly just died, and I need to replace it. I was thinking of trying to find one which can play MPG or AVI files which I have burnt onto CD as well, as I have quite a few things in this format. Does anyone have any recommendations? I would prefer not to spend more than £40.

I have found this:

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0223413652.1171794806@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccfiaddkeiefgkjcflgceggdhhmdgmk.0&chain=PC_World&seo=yes&sku=554540&channel=WEB&page=Product

what do you think? Will it do the job I need it to do (including playing AVI/ MPG - it says it can play CDR which is what I have, so I hope this is right?)

I`d appreciate any guidance. Thank you!

Jane

i can really recommend the Kazuki with USB port on SVP, it`s selling for only £29.99 quid now, and P&P is 99p this weekend on orders over £30, just get something else for a couple of quid to make up the difference. It plays just about everything and with the USB you can watch movies etc from a pen drive without having to burn any disc`s :D

It doesn`t have very good reviews... and it sounds like there are quite a lot of people who have had problems with not being able to turn subtitles off.

this is the model that i have and it plays avi / mpg / divx.
to watch an avi movie just dump it on a disc and this machine will play it, i personally have had no problems with subtitles, and for the money its a great machine.and its played everything i have thrown at it.

yeah thats the one, it plays DivX,Mpeg4,Avi no problem at all, the unit is cheap in construction, but i`ve had no problems with it, as for the problem with subtitles, there is a button on the remote to switch them off, so i cant see why anyone has a problem with that :/
i`ve just ordered another one for the other room so the kids can use it as well :)
