Page 1 of Playback problem: White horizontal lines

I`m wondering if anybody can help me out. I`ve got a Proline 1000 player with Goodmans 28" Widescreen TV.
On most of my DVD`s often when there`s a dark background, I get white horizontal lines running from an object, say a person, moving horizontaly right to the end of the screen. It`s quite faint and nothing major, like a white shadow but its really distracting. I can never see it on bright scenes. Does anyone know how I can stop this? Thanks alot.

I am haveing the same problems with my Pioneer DV525 and my Hitachi 28" widescreen.
In my case i think its my On Digital box causing the problem, so last night i changed my scart arrangement and it seems to have gone.
