Got a panny DMR-E50 about 2-3 yrs old and it no longer wants to record to blank discs is it worth repairing or just go out and buy a new model?
If a new model what would you recommend bearing in mind i need it to be multiregional?

I would have thought that was worth a quick drive change for the sake of £30 or so. Hang on while I go find a mate of mine who knows about these things, and I`ll get back to you. ;)

I`m afraid Panasonic machines use a dedicated drive, probably made by them. So no other drive will be suitable

Sorry. :(

I`ll mull on what you could get now as an alternative...

Well, as you are used to the Panasonic GUI and remote, how about upgrading to their DMR-EZ25? For around £200 many online retailers are selling it pre-chipped for multi-region, and it records to DVD-RAM, DVD-R/W and DVD+R/W including dual layer discs.
