Tevion Aldi 1GB MP3 Player - playing individual folders?

Bryen22 (Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 15th July 2006, 06:41

I bought one of these on Thursday for £35 - great little player. One question, I can store music in folders and can see the folders on the display but I can`t get it to play a folder (i.e. a CD) - when I go into play it just starts from the begining and plays everything on it. Anyone know how to select and play a folder - ther`s nothing in manual to help, but box says "folder structure with sub-folder" which kind of implies you can play a sub-folder.
Also for the price/size the £17 Tevion multimedia speakers are good too.

I bought one yesterday. Exactly the same question. Did you find and answer?

I have found a Navigation tool in the menu but this does little more than allow you look in the current folder.

I look forward to hearing from you

You may have worked it out by now, but if not, here goes. There is a hierarcy for the folders, which goes (on mine) root - music - artist - album - track. When you have a track selected, press down the menu button, and then click left to navigation. Press menu again, and the track name should be highlighted. By then holding the button to the left, you can go up the hierarcy. It is a bit fiddly, and happens quickly, so you can miss "levels" if you`re not on the ball, but you`ll get used to it. Once in a "level", by flicking the next and previous thingy you can work your way back and forth through them. Once you`ve found the track you want, press the stop/play button twice and it should start to play. It sounds a bit tricky, but once you get the hang of it, it works o.k.

The problem I`ve found with mine is the capacity. Folders that the "sync" bit of Windows say are present don`t seem to be on the player, and with plenty of memory capacity left. Also if I try to add things to it, it overwrites previously loaded songs. Have you found this?

Ian.

Hi all,

I`m glad I am not the only one finding a problem with the Tevion MP3 player.

Ian - I followed your instructions which were very clear but only root is displayed. Am I doing something wrong. It was going so well up until then!

Thanks.

If pushing and holding the lever to the right doesn`t work from root, it sounds like something is wrong. I think that "music", and the other "levels" come from Windows Media Player, so there could be a problem there. I should point out that I am new to all this, far from an expert! Good luck.
Ian.

Ian,

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Although my player only displays root, by pulling the lever right and left as you suggested I got it to work! I am able to search through all my music album by album and select what I want to play. This only takes seconds.

Thanks again.
