Hi

I am looking for a new player and i was wondering if anyone had this player.

I have found on the net totally contridictary reviews of this player.
Some reviews are great it got player of the year from one of the mags but whatvideotv mag`s review basically says do not buy this player!!.

Anyone have a comment to make on this player?

[ps. im looking for a multiregion player under £250 (excluding toshiba)]

Hi,
I have just bought this machine which is to be replaced by a Panasonic based model DVD S520 which will probably not be multi-region.The S510 can be made muti region by the the Phillips hack and a One for all remote.
The S510 are really hard to find as Yamaha have sold out, many shops have waiting lists.

If you can get hold of one,get it.Great picture, silent drive, excellent build quality. All that said not as good as the old Toshiba100E,but nearly so.
The 100E would require chipping for multi region. Some branches of COSTCO still have stock of the 100E for £150.
cheers

I noticed the same thing ;)
And did you find an answer? I think it`s whathifi that gave this player a five star for both sound and picture. Perhaps the guys from whatvideotv mag tested a defective player or something.
