MICO A980 and small picture hiccup problem

Peter C (Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 18th October 2000, 12:08

After all the responses I`ve read in these forums and conflicting reviews by various magazines, I`m beginning to wonder if I should have bothered buying this machine. But the I`ve got one now, but I`ve got a question.

The first machine I got had a broken jog shuttle and after contacting them, I managed to get it replaced within a day (not too bad considering the other stories I`ve heard). I`ve been testing the new replacement machine last night and I was running a region 1 version of Wing Commander (yeah, I know its a crap film but I had to test out something that was short). The machine itself seems to be running fine for the most part, however at least once or twice, the picture ans sound did a hiccup type effect. When I rewind back to look at it again, it`s fine. Is this a major problem I need to worry about and why does it do this?

Should I contact Unbeatable again and get them to replace it for yet another one?

Broken Jog Shuttle?

I wonder if we are getting `new` goods!

I had the feeling that my first Mico was secondhand. Certain signs like sticky tape looking reused, ring marks around the screw holes etc.

If I see it on my replacement (coming soon). I`ll remarks on this to trading standards.

Sorry cant help U on picture problem.

Do unbeatable suck then ?

I was thinking of getting a cheapo set of Tannoy speakers from this bunch of monkeys - very very cheap. Carrot - judging by your experiences with your Mico would you advise steer clear then ? Or should I `risk` it and get loud and shouty when it don`t go to plan ? In fact, anyone had as much hassles as Carrot with these fly by nights ?
