What do I think of the Mico A980 DVD Player...
I`ve just recently brought the Mico A980 Multi-Region DVD player. However, within 2 days of use the jog shuttle spring broke off inside the unit so I sent it back to the supplier for an exchange. Within 2 days I got a replacement which I was excited when I received it. But oh no, as soon as I played any Region 1 or 2 DVD the picture kept on skipping and pausing every so often. I am now getting very annoyed as I thought the Mico DVD player chasis was based on Panasonic parts hence quality bits inside! Anyway, I am going to try for the third exchange and hopefully this one will be ok. If the worst of the worst happens I am going to settle with the Sony Playstation 2 which can play Region 2 DVD. Not sure about Region 1 but I hope some wise dude comes up with a hack chip or something so I can watch the latest American movies.
Question. How realiable is the Mico A980 DVD player? Does this company have stringent quality control? How come the people who build the Mico A980 cannot follow Panasonic`s blueprint to the letter?
I`m not going to bother with the Yelo or Shinco DVD players as I heard that they are a pile of pap.
Ok, enough said.
MICO A980 and small picture hiccup problem
After all the responses I`ve read in these forums and conflicting reviews by various magazines, I`m beginning to wonder if I should have bothered buying this machine. But the I`ve got one now, but I`ve got a question.
The first machine I got had a broken jog shuttle and after contacting them, I managed to get it replaced within a day (not too bad considering the other stories I`ve heard). I`ve been testing the new replacement machine last night and I was running a region 1 version of Wing Commander (yeah, I know its a crap film but I had to test out something that was short). The machine itself seems to be running fine for the most part, however at least once or twice, the picture ans sound did a hiccup type effect. When I rewind back to look at it again, it`s fine. Is this a major problem I need to worry about and why does it do this?
Should I contact Unbeatable again and get them to replace it for yet another one?
