Best RGB using DVD recorder under £80?

jimbob78 (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 2nd February 2006, 20:50

Hi everyone, I`ve just sold my VHS player, and I`ve decided to get into the 21st century and buy a DVD recorder.

I will be using it to record from my Sky Digital box. I would the player to use RGB scart to do this, and cost no more than £80 (I`m not asking for much, eh?)

Has anyone got any ideas as to which recorders at that price would have the RGB Scart feature?

Many thanks in advance

Sorry but at £80-00 you are stuck in the 20th century. Add £30-00 & get a Panasonic with the only good 4 hour record & you can climb into the 21st Century.

What Panasonic model do you suggest? Does this model use the RGB method of recording as well?

For that price it must be the DMRES10.

If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything BTTF

Well acording to this thread in Bargain Buckets it`s now only £99-99 in one of the Tesco`s.

This has to be one of the best bargains EVER.

If you read DVD forums everywhere, no matter what make people buy most people agree that for watch & wipe the 4 hours is the best & for archiving either 1 or 2 hours is best. The Panasonic at £99-00 gives a near perfect 4 hours record. Panasonic are the only make to do this.

Paull it does record in rgb I assume?

I am toying with the idea of changing my Liteon 5006 for this panny. Not sure if the wife can agree to have 2 recorders so will have to sell the liteon before I can get the panny.

If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything BTTF

But LiteOn as a manufacturer are at the bottom of the heap. Panasonic are at the top. Panasonic records to DVD-RAM still by far the most reliable Re recording medium there is, so NO LOST RECORDINGS, & it`s the only one that gives high quality on the LP (4 hour) record, whether you use, DVD-RAM, DVDR/W, DVD -R or DVD +R. If you want to record a programme ie: Movie, Sports footie with extra time, golf , Opera, that lasts 3 to 4 hours & you want it on one disc the Panasonic is the only one with the high quality record. ie Good picture quality.

Under a ton for a brand new Panasonic ?
Blimey ! :o :D

Absolute bargain.
Why the hell bother with any lite-on/matsui/yamada crap ?

That`s 3+ years of faultless performance from my Panasonic machines now. 8)
