Ive decided to buy a scan dvd player because it outputs a pure pal 50 stream on region 1 discs.

Gone to buy one at the SCAN web site and thay are out of stock & wont have any in till end of september.

Does anyone know of a good retailer thay I can get one from now ?

I remember seeing them at mp3player.co.uk (or .com, i cannot remember), they used to sell than cheaper than scan did, but this was a while back. I know there are ok as my brother bought his scan dvd machine from them

Unfortunatly, I dont want to wait five weeks, I`ll order the Sami 709, Its readilly available and the macro/multi region can also be deactivated from the remote.

Perhaps Scan needs to rethink its stocking policy as it is loosing orders in a very competitive market place ?

"Ive decided to buy a scan dvd player because it outputs a pure pal 50 stream on region 1 discs."

Most budget DVD players will output pal 50 from NTSC (Region 1) discs.

The trick is to get the player to output pal 60 which will produce a better conversion (if your tv can handle it).

Try to find a player that does that or your video might look like garbage.

The Scan is also available at http://www.pless.co.uk/acatalog/pless_Dvd_7.html for £169 inclusive.

I would advide you to try and track down a Logix 3000 as this player is the same as the Scan except for one scart lead.

Asda was selling them for £129 with a 3 year warranty, any problems you can return it no probs. Get a problem with a Scan and prepare for a large phone bill no returned phone calls, the worst customer service anyone could wish to encounter.

Must say that this player is good ,and can be made macrovision free as well.

BUY FROM SCAN = :-(
DONT DO IT , they dont care about there customers at all.
Just try contacting customer support ( joke )
it took me 3 months to get ( some ) of my money back on some faulty
equipment. and that was after getting the credit card company involved.

I was under the impression that most videos cant record Pal 60, (Unless it is a multi standard one) Pal 60 is a mix between converting NTSC to pal 50

I presume there is a multi-region & macro fix for the Logix (can u point me in the direction) and can I record NTSC region 1 discs onto video.

If you go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Scan2000 you can find out all about Logix 3000 and download firmware .

I can tape region 1 discs no probs.
