Why are the centre and rear speakers not working on my home theatre kit?
This is my second plea for help in the hardware forums today. Needless to say I`d be pulling my hair out if I didn`t have a skinhead. ;)
I bought an a cheapo Acoustic Solutions AS222 set-up from Ebuyer for the bedroom
Everything is set-up for 5.1 correctly, but I`m getting no sound from the centre and rear channels. When I set it up for 2.1 and switch the unit to AUX, all the speakers work perfectly. So it doesn`t seem to be a problem with the new kit.
The DVD player has all the right doo-das at the back for proper 5.1, but I`m wondering if they actually work... :/ When I go into the audio set-up menu, I can adjust the options for subwoofer and front speakers, but can`t fiddle about with centre or rear lot - the options are `greyed out`. :(
*It`s probably worth mentioning that the manual makes reference to a black and white phono lead, which isn`t there. There`s an extra red and white instead.*
The Empire Strikes Back was the test DVD, so I know it has a 5.1 track... ;)
Any ideas?
Oh yeah... Ken is a badass dude!

There`s nothing there I didn`t already know.

It will work however with a DVD player that has seperate 5.1 channel audio outputs (i.e 6 phono sockets corresponding to FL, FR, RL, RR, C and SW)
Which is exactly what I do have. But I`m getting no sound from the rear and central speakers.

Looks like you have your dvd player setup to only output stereo/downmix to stereo. There should be an option to output 5.1 in one of the setup menus.
