Page 1 of Views on HITACHI DVP505E DVD PLAYER please

Im hoping to purchase a dvd player in the next couple of weeks, and i`ve been looking around on richersounds and superfi and came across this player. I see alot of people asking for recommendations for players under £200, and i know this player is slightly more £230. There are lots of hardware threasds concering sony and panasonic but i never see any views on hitachi models. Anyone got any experiance with this player? the reason it cought my eye is it`s abilitie to output NTSC at PAL 50 and is multiregion. Any feed back would be great

I have had a 505 since last August, and I paid a lot more then 230.

Overall the 505 is an excellent player at that price, it is capable of converting between picture formats very well, it also plays mp3`s VCD & SVCD.

Their are the occasional minor picture quality issue with poor transferred discs, but this is not soley hitachi, this is due to the ess chipset used, which alot of other brand`s have in their machine including Encore, Scan, Samsung & Apex.

Demo the player at the store before buying, saying that the 515 is out soon and has already recieved an excellent review although unlike the 505 it has no decoder.

The WF830 is the bargain but of all widescreen`s many people have been able to get the 32" model for under a grand.

Which doesnt sound much until see its features list P/Scan, DTS/DD5.1 flat screen, mpeg sounds and much more.....
